Johnny Depp Trial: Amber Heard hides behind police when Depp nears her

Tensions are palpable between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. For weeks, the two Hollywood actors have been facing each other in court in Fairfax, Virginia, with one appalling story after another about their relationship. The new clips from the latest hearing were recently released and people did not miss this sudden change in Amber’s behaviour.

The ongoing court battle

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have been at war with each other ever since Heard published an op-ed in Washington Post claiming that she has been a victim of domestic abuse. As a consequence of the article, Depp faced severe backlash and was even on the verge of being blacklisted from Hollywood. However, he did not take the accusations lying down and is currently counter-suing Heard for $50 million dollars for defamation.

Heard’s unusual behaviour

During their recent trial hearing on Thursday 5 May, a strange altercation took place between the ex-couple. In the clips, Heard can be seen standing up and is about to leave at the same time as Depp does. Heard appeared to be visibly uncomfortable and flinched before moving back. Soon a female police officer places herself between the ex-couple and another police officer guides Depp, gently, in the opposite direction.

Heard was noticeably distressed and wouldn’t approach forward. Depp appeared to be calm and was noticed to be having conversations with several people around him. As Depp turned his back to Heard, she was escorted to her side of the courtroom by the female officer. Depp then turned around and proceeds to leave. However, for a split second, he looks to the right and then at Heard, before quickly looking forward and exiting the courtroom.

Viewers react

As the trial is publicised, it does have immense scrutiny from viewers all over the world. People had mixed reactions, some sided with Depp, claiming that the whole ‘flinch’ ordeal was just a part of Heard’s act to appear vulnerable and frightened in order to gain sympathy. However, some people were simply confused, as to why she would react that way. There are some supporters who believe that Heard is genuinely afraid of Depp, one comment said:

She looks really scared and Johnny Depp is laughing.
