It all began when the Aquaman actress published an op-ed in Washington Post claiming that she had been a victim of domestic abuse, which in turn caused Depp to face heavy losses. This ordeal caused the 58-year-old actor to lose his widely known role of Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. He then sued Heard for $50 million for defamation of character, to which his ex-wife countersued him for $100 million.

The consequences of the trial
The closing statements by both the parties were made on 27 May, and now it’s time for the jury to make the final decision. According to Inews, the jury will announce the final verdict and whether Heard really did defame her ex-husband in the Washington Post op-ed or not. If the ruling is in favour of Depp, then Heard will have to pay for the amount for damages she has caused. However, the jury can also alter the amount Depp receives.
