As per The Express, Elton John described his relationship with Lennon as a 'wonderful two or three-year whirlwind romance'. It apparently helped him in many aspects of his life, both personally and professionally. Elton admitted to having gained more confidence and strength from the relationship with Lennon.

We nearly got into trouble a few times, but we never had a bad word... people say ‘Oh watch out for him, he can turn’, and I think maybe when he was drinking a lot and everything he did, but I never saw that.
Their special relationship
The first time the two global music sensations met was in 1973, and they instantly hit it off. Lennon was Elton’s idol, and he was awe-struck at meeting the Hey Jude singer. And this admiration went both ways. Sean said:

The two years that followed
The years that followed after they met were magical for the artists. Being one of the OG’s to have a bromance, the artists shared a lot of creative exchanges, laughter, and admiration for one another. They even collaborated from time to time. Elton fondly recalled his time with Lennon and said:
