‘My Preference for Young Girls… I’ve Never Hidden It’: Roman Polanski Claims in Recently Resurfaced Video
More under this adAfter winning three awards at the 2020 César Awards, Polanski is once again facing new criticism from victims' associations, and on the internet. A resurfaced interview with the filmmaker in the 1970s shows him making some rather upsetting remarks.
In the wake of Polanski's controversial award victories for his new film 'An Officer and a Spy,' a video dating from 1978 resurfaced on Twitter. In it, Polanski discusses his trial for the rape of a minor in the United States and his 'taste for young girls.'

This footage took place in 1978 on Jean-Pierre Elkabbach's talk show. Roman Polanski had come on the show to promote his new movie, 'Tess.' One year after his (too) short stay in prison for sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl, Roman Polanski spoke out on the topic, and his words certainly don't leave anyone indifferent.

Shocking remarks which are certainly representative of the filmmaker's disturbing beliefs, which he proudly endorsed. Roman Polanski went so far as to agree with the American justice system which had convicted him of rape, but, his argument to clear his name was that 'most of the population is committing (rapes of minors, editor's note) several times a day.'

I'm not the only person with whom that person was having sex. She testified before the grand jury before I was charged and as you know, no one else was charged.
Indifferent to the accusations made against him, the filmmaker even seems to take a kind of pleasure when responding to the journalist. When asked 'Aren't you afraid of being extradited to the United States?' Roman Polanski explained that he feels 'free in France.'

The shocking and revealing video, made just a year after Polanski was convicted of sexually assaulting a minor, quickly went viral on the internet, which then made its disgust heard.
