Social media is breaking as rumours have emerged that Emma Watson might be retiring after her agent said she's been 'dormant' for a while.

The iconic 30-year-old English actress might have ran her course! Watson's agent told the Daily Mail that she has gone dormant and now fans around the world are losing it!

Twitter users and uber fans of the actress were particularly vocal by expressing outrage over the news. One fan wrote:

Notable roles and advocacy

The Paris-born star came to prominence with her role as Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter franchise and easily became a fan-favourite of the film series for her sharp quick witted come backs and expert knowledge on everything witchcraft related.

Following the success of the franchise, Watson paved her way as a serious actress on the rise with important roles in films such as The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Bling Ring, Beauty and the Beast and Noah for which she won a BAFTA in 2014.

Her most recent role on the big screen was that of Margaret March in the 2019 film Little Women.

In addition to her professional endeavours, Watson has been heavily involved in social activism from a young age. In July of 2014 she was appointed a UN Women Goodwill ambassador and delivered a speech that went viral in which she spoke about the importance of gender equality and feminism.

Later, in 2019, she joined a G7 gender equality advisory group convened by the president of France, Emmanuel Macron.
