Almost immediately after the performance, rumours blew up about Boy George’s possible bankruptcy.
But as the news went around, Boy George himself took to Twitter to deny the damaging rumours.
Here’s what happened.
Why would Boy George go bankrupt?
Boy George and his former Culture Club bandmate, Jon Moss have been involved in a lawsuit since 2018.
This started when Moss was allegedly ‘expelled’ from the band during their world tour. Following his supposed exclusion from the group, Jon Moss launched legal action against his former bandmates claiming that missing out from the tour meant that he ‘missed out on £200K in profits.’
But this feud between Boy George and Jon Moss goes beyond the Culture Club.
Indeed, in the 1980s the two were not just colleagues but also lovers and their romance has been classified ‘turbulent’ with ‘alleged physical and verbal abuse on both sides.’

It's not like I ever really got what I needed from Jon. I loved him more than anything in the world, but in hindsight, it was a very dysfunctional relationship
This of course created years of tension within the group which is now culminating in a lawsuit.
In March 2023, a court order ‘required’ Moss’ ex bandmates to pay him ‘£1,75 million immediately.’
Boy George denies financial trouble
Since the rumours are going around, it was only natural that they reached Boy George’s ears.
On Twitter the singer first mocked those rumours.

He then felt the need to reassure his fans by saying:
It should also be noted that Boy George has a net worth of $50million.
On top of that, in December 2022, he listed his London home for £17million. To this day we do not know if Boy George has managed to sell his ‘Gothic mansion’ yet but if he does, he should be well clear of bankruptcy.
